A 25-year-old Tecumseh woman faces a racing charge after being stopped by Huron OPP on June 5 at Varna.

Police say they measured the vehicle travelling 110 kilometres an hour in a 50-kilometre zone.

The accused has an Aug. 10 court date in Goderich.

As well, her vehicle was seized and impounded for the week and her driver’s licence was suspended for seven days.

Drunk driver charged after almost hitting cop

A 48-year-old Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident has been charged with drunk driving after almost hitting an OPP cruiser.

Huron OPP say one of their officers was patrolling Highway 21 south of Kintail on June 8 when he had to take evasive action to avoid an oncoming vehicle.

The officer turned around and followed the sport utility vehicle and noticed that it was being driven in an erratic manner.

The driver was stopped and displayed several signs of impairment. He was arrested and taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where a breath test was found to be over the legal limit.
